1. The Government of Japan expresses its strong indignation over the series of terrorist attacks that took place in Mumbai, India, on 26 November (Wednesday) which resulted in a large number of casualties including Japanese citizens. We condemn in the strongest terms these acts which were aimed at innocent citizens.
2. The Government of Japan expresses sorrow for the victims and sends its condolences to the bereaved families. We also express sympathy for those injured and strongly hope for the earliest possible release and rescue of those taken hostage. The Government of Japan condemns terrorism in any form or manifestation and reiterates our stance that there can be no justification, whatsoever, for any acts of terrorism.
3. We hope that the people of India will overcome this hardship soon. We are resolved to continue our cooperation with the Government of India in the fight against terrorism.
